- Retrevial Boat
I got my Colorado last week to use as a Retrevial boat for a RC boat club I belong to. I was very pleased with the quality and ease of assembly, I read a few reviews that said the pontoons leaked. I'm pretty sure it was just a case of people not working the valves correctly, these valves have a double seal so it's almost impossible for them to leak unless they are not worked properly. I put a 55lb thrust trolling motor on mine and I probably have the only Colorado that almost gets on plane! LOL I know it says 30lb max but it has no problem with 55lbs. Great boat deffinetly buy one!
- One cool pontoon
I have enjoyed this pontoon now for 6 months with no problems it's a great little boat for getting into all the places I could not get into on the river that I fish. It takes a little time to get used to handling it but once you've got your oars and seating ajusted you catch on quick. when I bought the Colorado it had a rip on the back rest of the seat ( probably from shipping) so I called the company and they sent me a new one pronto! great customer service, thanks for the great product .
- Great product for the price
The Colorado has seen me through many spring days. I call it the fish killer as it helps me to kill the fish. It is especially fond of trout, their scales shimmering as I chase them through the shallows with my trolling motor, or, for more delicate work, with my flippers. I find it strange that I and my delicious enemy both have flippers but I must adapt to fight it in its home. It is with some regret that I reel them in, I must say, a worthy enemy these fish can be. In fact, if the struggle is great enough I will release a true warrior fish back to its home, simply cutting off the caudal fin and joining it with the many others around my neck, a trophy of my fish killing. If you wish to master the trout in your area, the Colorado is a fin tool for doing so.
- Great Boat for the Price
I've had my Colorado pontoon for almost a year and have enjoyed hours of use on multiple occasions. I did not buy the XL edition, but the base boat comes with the fitting for the wheel and I did buy the wheel from Classic Accessories. Their prices for replacement parts are very reasonable. I also bought spare valves and other parts in case of emergency. The rubber came off the footrest, so they sent me an entire new footrest under warranty. Excellent no-questions-asked warranty coverage. I have purchased a 30 lb. thrust motor and battery, but I find the rear mounting position difficult to hold the boat on a course and turning around to steer is very hard on the back & shoulders. I've made a couple other modifications that make the boat far more useful. For storage, I remove the pontoons, stuff them in a large bag and store the frame from hooks I've installed in my garage celiing - out of the way. For transportation, I load the frame onto the roof rack of my Honda CRV and strap it down. Works great, although at 40+ lbs it's a little awkward for one person to load and unload. I've also loaded it onto my roof full assembled and inflated. This works for shorter trips or if you just need to load it up for an evening. Again, at 70+ lbs, I can do it myself, but I usually look for help. Once at the lake or river, it takes about 45 - 60 minutes to install the pontoons onto the frame and get it rigged and ready, and almost as long to disassemble it, so it does take some time out of your day. All in all, I'm very pleased with my purchase and with the performance of the boat, and I've caught hundreds of fish from it.
This is an awesome one person watercraft! I just throw it in the back of my truck and drive to the lake/stream I want to fish
- Floating the Chena
This product gives me the opportunity to float on the Chena River, fish and enjoy the beauty of Alaska.
- Great little fishing craft
i've had my little catboat for about 4 years now. other than the bladders being somewhat vulnerable to punctures (2 times now from fishing lures) the Colorado is perfect for solo fishing on small lakes, ponds and rivers.
Even though it recommends that this craft don't do any waters above a class 2, i've had it through several rapids that would be class 3 to 4. Including balcony falls on the James River during high water and have never had a problem.
These crafts are super stable and comfortable. it's like riding a lazyboy down the river. Also the Colorado has several advantages over canoe fishing, the main one being that you can anchor down in moving water. Anyone that's tried this in canoes knows it's not exactly the wisest plan of action. Also it is very easy to keep your bow oriented in the right direction which can be problematic in windy condition in a canoe.
The only thing i found lacking was the oars are very heavy and were replaced very quickly and the oar lock system i found to be a little lacking. After replacing the oars and doing a few mods this problem was solved however.
- Great product and a stand-up company
I just wanted to say Thank You. I got my Colorado boat in September of 2013 and didn't get a chance to use it til October. When I opened the box, I found one of the foot supports had moved in the box and had cut the seat. I also found one of the oarlock bushings was broken. I talked to your people, at customer support, and they told me how to make a claim, to get these issues resolved. I did as they asked, and within a week I had the replacement items at my door. I have used the boat several times and I love it. I have found a couple of lakes that are only accessible by foot, and this boat is the ideal way to access them. You make a great product and you stand behind it. That is a rare find in today,s world.
